Old torn billboards, with their patchwork of many colors, have always fascinated me. I often drove by these huge weathered signs whose messages were erased long ago. The tattered shreds waved in the wind, revealing a collage of color with barely visible letters. In this painting, layers of color have been wiped away to reveal what lays beneath.
This painting is reminiscent of those old billboards that lined the city streets and highways in New Jersey.
